WINNIPEG, Canada, June 2, 2008.- Trinidad and
Tobago could not get much passed the home town
team today. Team Canada took the lead during this
match and won 3-0. Set scores were, 25-12, 25-13,
25-13.
Although Trinidad and Tobago started with an
advantage of 8-6 in the first set, Team Canada did
not wait any longer before stepping up and win the
set. They were very consistent all game and did
not give any chance to their opponent.
The best scorer was Toontje Van Lankvelt from
Canada, with 11 points. He was also the best
blocker, cumulating 5 kill blocks.
Coach Glenn Hoag said a few words after this
match: “I am very proud of the team. They did not
make a lot of mistake and adjusted very quickly as
we did not have a lot of information on this team.
The focus was consistent and it was fun to watch
them play. We need to maintain that energy as the
competition will get more and more intense.”
The captain Jeremy Wilcox added: “We practiced
hard for the last three weeks and it showed. We
came out strong on the court and minimized the
mistakes. I am impressed by all our players.” |
